    Test items: The water absorption of the surface of the kraft box paper was tested by the Kabo water absorption tester KBXS-01 of Sanquan Zhongshi, so that the enterprise can find a reasonable material proportioning scheme.


    Experimental Execution Standard: GB/T 1540-2002 "Determination of Water Absorption of Paper and Paperboard" specifies the water absorption of the surface of sized paper and paperboard.


    Test principle: Weigh the sample before the kraft box paper test. When one side of the sample is in contact with water for a specified time, absorb excess water on the sample and immediately weigh it. The results are expressed in terms of the mass added per unit area of the sample, in grams per square meter.

    There are two main types of Bob water absorption tester devices, one is a flip type, and the other is a flat press type, and either of them can be used. Both instruments should meet the following requirements.

    1. The metal cylinder is a cylinder, and its inner cross-sectional area is generally (100 ± 0.2) cm 2 , and the corresponding inner diameter is (112.8 ± 0.2) mm. If a small-area cylinder is used, the recommended area should be no less than 50 cm2. In this case, the volume of water should be reduced accordingly to ensure a water-liquid height of 10 mm. The height of the cylinder is 50 mm, and the part of the cylinder ring surface that is in contact with the sample should be smooth and have sufficient roundness to prevent the edge of the cylinder from damaging the sample;

    2. In order to prevent the leakage of water, a layer of elastic but non-absorbent rubber pad or gasket should be added to the base of the inverted cylinder cover and the flat pressure type;

    3. The roll width of the metal press roller should be (200 ± 0.5) mm. The mass should be (10 ± 0.5) kg and the surface should be smooth.

    Test procedure for the Bob water absorption tester: (flip test method)

    1. Cut 10 samples of sample with diameter of 125mm with a Bob-absorber sampler (5 sheets of front and back)

    2. Before placing the sample, keep the cylindrical torus and the pad in contact with the sample dry, and the hand should not touch the test area.

    3. Pour 100 ml of water into the cylinder, and place the sample of good quality on the annular surface of the cylinder. And the test is facing down. The gland is placed over the specimen and clamped to secure it to the cylinder.

    4. When the test time is determined, the time to remove the remaining water and the time to complete the water absorption are in accordance with Table 1.

    5. Turn the cylinder 180 ゚ and turn on the stopwatch. 10 s to 15 s before the end of water absorption, turn the cylinder upright, loosen the gland clamping device, and remove the sample. Note that after each test 5 times, the test water should be replaced to avoid affecting the test results.

    6. At the instant when the specified water absorption time is reached, the sample that has been removed from the cylinder is placed on the pre-packed absorbent paper with the water-absorbing side facing down. Then, a piece of absorbent paper was placed on the sample, and then immediately rolled back and forth in a 4 s without any other pressure by a metal press roller to dry the remaining water on the surface of the sample.

    7. Quickly take out the sample, fold it in the opposite direction, and then weigh it once and then weigh it to the nearest 0.001 g. For thick cardboard, the specimen may not be easily folded, in which case the second weighing should be carried out as soon as possible.


    Experimental results representation method:

    The amount of water absorbed by the surface of paper and paperboard per unit area under a certain pressure and temperature within a specified time, in g/m2. The specific formula is as follows:

    C = (G2-G1) × 100.

    Where: C-bottle water absorption value;

    G2- the mass of the sample weighed after water absorption;

    G1-The mass of the sample weighed before water absorption.
