The volume of the carton changes due to the size of the product, the carton usually has a variety of patterns or text prompts such as "handle with care", "fear of wet", "upward", "stacking limit", "fear of sun", "moisture-proof", "quality and safety", "no rolling", "do not trample", "Pay attention to fire prevention", "fragile items", "green environment", "fear of heat", "food", "anti-odor", etc. Alert the user to protect the contents from damage.

As an indispensable part of modern logistics, packaging cartons bear the important responsibility of bulk storage, product protection and beauty, the physical performance indicators of packaging cartons become the basis for their quality assessment, and the accuracy and reliability of test data need to be guaranteed by good testing environmental conditions.

Corrugated board is made of face paper, inner paper, core paper and corrugated paper processed into corrugated paper by bonding. According to the needs of commodity packaging, corrugated cardboard can be processed into single-sided corrugated cardboard, three-layer corrugated cardboard, five layers, seven layers, eleven layers and other corrugated cardboard.

Different corrugated shapes, bonded into the function of corrugated cardboard is also different. Even if the same quality of face paper and inner paper are used, due to the difference in the shape of the corrugated board, the performance of the corrugated board is also different. There are four types of corrugated shapes commonly used in the world, which are A-type, C-type, B-type and E-type. Their technical indicators and requirements are shown in Table I. The corrugated board made of A-type corrugated has better cushioning and certain elasticity, and C-type corrugated is inferior to A-type corrugated. But the stiffness and impact resistance are better than A-type corrugated; B type corrugated arrangement density, made of corrugated board surface flat, high pressure, suitable for printing; The E type is thin and dense, and it shows its rigid strength.

The difference between containers and non-containers is mainly in the outer diameter, and is closely related to the type of corrugated. The manufacturing size of the carton is the cutting size at the time of making the carton. The manufacturing size is measured by the pressure line on the unfolded box blank. The indentation roll of the slitter presses a groove on the position of the press line, and the press line is the center line of the groove. The distance between the two lines is the manufacturing size. The conversion of manufacturing dimensions to inner and outer diameter dimensions can be done quickly through Table 2, but they also have their own measurement methods.

Single-piece is a one-page molding box, generally used for cartons with small girth; Some carton circumference is too large, have to use two boxes to piece together a carton, but sometimes the carton factory in order to use the production process cut down the rest of the material, will also use two pieces to piece together a size is not too large carton, and even sometimes use four pieces. The two-page box has one more joint than the one-page box, so the area calculation of the two has some slight differences.

The manufacturing size of the carton joint is determined according to the number of corrugated layers and the level of production technology, single corrugated board is 35 ~ 40mm, double corrugated board is 45 ~ 50mm, and triple corrugated board is 50mm.

When calculating the development area of the carton, the loss of the waste wire in the manufacturing process must be taken into account, and the size of the waste wire is determined according to the number of cardboard layers, generally 20 ~40mm.

In order to facilitate the calculation in actual work, the rule of adding "8" and "4" is adopted uniformly, that is, the sum of the joint and the wire in the horizontal direction is 8cm, and the sum of the wire in the longitudinal direction is 4cm.
